Staying Safe on the Scene

A Tow Operator’s View: The Real Impact of “Slow Down, Move Over”

When our operators arrive at an accident scene, safety is always the first priority — for everyone involved. Setting up recovery operations often means working just feet away from fast-moving traffic. That’s why we genuinely appreciate when lanes are coned off, messaging boards are in place, or blocking trucks are used to protect the work area. These precautions make a world of difference. Our job can be dangerous, and we’re deeply grateful for the police, state, and local authorities who help create a safe environment so our team can do what we do best — clear the scene efficiently and get traffic moving again. Their partnership and quick response help keep both our operators and the public safe. We’re asking everyone on the road to do their part, too. When you see flashing lights — whether it’s a tow truck, police car, or highway crew — please remember to Slow Down and Move Over. A little extra space and caution can truly save lives. Let’s all work together to make our roads safer for the men and women who serve on the front lines every day.
