Move Over Day: Slow Down. Save a Life.
A Reminder to Keep Roadside Workers Safe

Every National Move Over Day, we pause to remind drivers of a simple act that can save lives — move over and slow down for stopped emergency and roadside vehicles. At Mike’s Towing, our drivers are out there every day helping stranded motorists, often just inches from fast-moving traffic. The Move Over Law isn’t just a rule — it’s protection for the men and women who risk their lives to help others on the road.
What Is the Move Over Law?
All 50 states have laws requiring drivers to:
- Change lanes when approaching flashing lights, if it’s safe
- Slow down significantly when moving over isn’t possible
These steps give police officers, firefighters, EMS, and tow operators the space they need to work safely.
Why It Matters to Mike’s Towing
Our team has seen firsthand how dangerous the roadside can be. Every time you move over, you help ensure that tow operators, emergency responders, and stranded drivers make it home safely.
